Not everyone will know what I'm talking about when I say "datepicker" so for those of you at a loss...
When you want to book a hotel the first thing you have to do is select a date using what we call a datepicker, you can either click the input field and put the date in yourself, or click the calendar icon
to pop up a calendar that shows you all the dates in the same way they are in your diary, this is what we call the datepicker.
Our old datepicker (image below) was a simple single month calendar, that you would have to move up and down, so that you got to the date you wanted.
Our new datepicker (image below) pops up a calendar with three months in one go.
Well we're trying to make your life easier, the booking process faster and, ultimately, the booking experience a more painless one. With the new datepicker you no longer have to scroll backwards and forwards a month at a time to find your booking date. Now you have 3 months simultaneously to choose from. If you wanted to see the next 12 months it only takes 4 clicks instead of the 12 that it used to.
That's a 75% saving! Woohoo.
George did it!
I'll tell you more about George at another time, but for now what you need to know is that the datepicker comes from the jQuery website and additional help from a very nice man - Keith Wood
Nicole did it too!
Because we always like to have a backup solution, Nicole Parks was asked to provide an alternative. And a very nice alternative it is too.
Of the versions that both Nicole and George built we went with the one George built.
